I may have the opportunity to become the media specialist at a new school (PreK-5) that our district will be opening after next year. This means ordering everything from books, shelves, equipment, and probably things I haven't even thought about. I can't tell you how many times my assistant and I have said "wouldn't it be fun to be in a new library where everything is new and just the way we want it." Now, I'm kind of overwhelmed with the idea. For those of you who have done this, please share your thoughts on the pros and cons of leaving an established but older library for a new one. My current principal, who is very supportive, will be the principal at the new school. Once concern I have is that this new library is being built on the open concept, no walls. Please share your thoughts. Thank you for helping me with this decision. Janet L.
