My reply to Dawn bounced back by the spam blocker. Sorry. Samurai Shortstop by Allen Gratz is wonderful. There is baseball in Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy, but it is not central to the plot. There is a game at which Turner is humiliated. He loves baseball and is good at it in Boston. Lizzie spends a day teaching him how to hit better, they play ball with each other. I have seventh grade students looking for historical fiction books that have to do with sports. The only one I could come up with off the top of my head was Bat Six. Does anyone have other suggestions?
