Hi folks,

The ISTE SIGMS (Special Interest Group Media Specialists) Chair-elect, Lisa
Perez has asked that I serve as our SIG¹s legislative liaison. I am honored
to do so.

I see these roles for this position:

1. To send to the SIGMS list information on legislation of
national/international interest. I will looking for current information on
the ATTAIN and SKILLS bills currently in Congress presently.
2. I can be your conduit for concerns to the ISTE board¹s legislative
committee. Send me any information you believe our lobbyist and the ISTE
staff need to be aware of.
3. I will send information about the means ISTE and affiliated organizations
such as COSN have devised of helping you get your message to your federal
representatives.
4. I will be updating (and encouraging others to update) the political
action pages of the SIGMS wiki <http://sigms.iste.wikispaces.net/>

I would also encourage you to let others on this list know of legislative
initiatives in your own state or region that may serve as a model for
others.

If you are not an ISTE member (and also a SIGMS member), please consider
joining. If you are already an ISTE member, be sure you are signed up for
the SIGMS mailing lists.

Oh, I have one final ISTE board meeting where I am happy to speak to the
ISTE movers and shakers on your behalf.

Thanks and I look forward to serving.

All the very best,

Doug
