Hello- I received a short story written by a 9th grader from an English teacher today that he believes may have been plagiarized. I've been googling phrases all morning with no luck and was hoping if I described the plot, someone might recognize it. It reads like the first chapter of any number of generic YA novels out there. It is about a 16 year old named Madison, who attends an all-girls boarding school (the Academy) in L.A. Her best friend Mo is a boy-crazy Hispanic girl, whose father is an abusive alcoholic and whose mother is dead. Madison is in love with her old friend Chase, who is dating Alecks. Another boy, Kelton, has feelings for Alecks and they get caught together at Chase's party. The story is set in 2006 and references the TV show Degrassi. Sound familiar? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Anne Wartman Media Specialist Valparaiso High School awartman@mail.valpo.k12.in.us "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.
