Perhaps of interest --

This topic of discussion just came up at a meeting I
attended last week.

1. If the district or state is paying for Internet
access -- then the district or state has the right to
determine what takes up the bandwidth --

2. You may have thought all of the media specialists
would enjoy the site -- but they may not have and
complained --
I just dealt with that that situation -- I have had
tons and tons of complaints about too much spam
getting to teachers email -- my teachers monitor their
own email -- and can blacklist what they don't want --
much to my amazement -- when I took the time to
investigate -- all of the spam in question was being
sent by other teachers and staff within the district
-- what they thought others may be interested in --
was drawing tons of complaints

3. ANyone who sends anything in email whether in a
school system or not -- has the potential to be
monitored. All email now by law has to be available
for eDiscovery challenges -- the rules for that are
unbelievable and school districts are not.

Before anyone starts bashing IT -- they need to
understand both sides of the issue --

I am a media specialist and am now the Director of IT
--

Many media specialists are not aware -- do not have an
understanding of the issues involved --

I am not advocating for either postion --

But I am tired of seeing IT bashed by media
specialists --

You can hear similar complaints about media
specialists -- they are uncooperative -- they are an
obstacle to reading because they charge fines, etc.,
etc. so before we bash others -- think about how we
feel when we read what others say about media
specialists
