I, too, received the same email and I was a bit put off. The book fair is really 
the only way these kids have access to books and being a title 1 school I'm lucky 
if I can clear 400.00 per fair. Because the admin really pushes for the fair, I 
rather doubt if she will let me cancel. We tend to operate on what is good for the 
child and if we don't make money, so be it. If we do, great! Of course I don't 
think they factor in the work that it entails for me. 
I don't understand why Scholastic could not pull this surcharge from their profits.
