LM_NET Archive

Pro:  Our professional opinions would be shared.  PR for our profession.

Con:  LM_NETers' who have vented in the past and future, would be "outed"...  since
all LM-NET posts are reguired to have their contact information attached.
Many employers now do search engine searches on prospective employees and
those past vents would be more likely to show up in pre-employment searches.
Probably detrimental to any LM_NETer's job search.
Sometimes we response in a hurry...with typos...with some opinions that
are spur-of-the-moment... I would recommend if this is done, that we regularly post
warnings to LM-NETers that their spur-of-the-moment vents are thus available.
LOL:  I personally can attest to "embasssment" about "spur-of-the-moment
typos!"

There is a robust discussion on OZTL_NET about whether the archives should be
opened up so they can be searched by services such as Google, and conversations and
professional
knowledge out in the public domain.

There are many arguments for and against, and I wondered if LM_NET is
'open' in this way. If so,what were the arguments for? If not, what were the
arguments against?
