Yes, try and contact the museum! I live not far from Portland, and they
were talking about the dissection on the radio yesterday. It was
fascinating! I didn't know that their brain has a circle hole in its brain
and that food passes through it. If its food wasn't made into a liquid, it
would get an "ice cream" headache.!

I think this is the program I listened to.

Subject: Re: HIT: Your BEST reference question ever -Kraken

For the person who had a little one asked about the giant squid like
creature ,,, the most accepted
spelling is actually 'kraken' and there is a popular picture book written
by Gary Crew and Marc
McBride with this title and subject http://www.amazon
com/Kraken-Gary-Crew/dp/0734401825 According
to Amazon it's out of print but you could probably get it from an Australian
supplier. If you
search Amazon using that spelling you will get a few titles (don't know
about their suitability) but
there is a lot on the World Wide Web with that spelling.

Also, if you search for "giant squid" + dissection you will find a number of
stories about a real
kraken that was found off the Western Victorian coast recently

"The 245kg 12-metre long squid was caught by the crew of fishing trawler
Zeehan off Portland in
western Victoria after it became entangled in a net 550 metres below the
surface."

There's another one about a New Zealand catch at

Hope this helps your little fellow. Maybe he can contact one the Melbourne
Museum and ask what they
discovered.
