OK, I can see that some of you are thinking that this mom (and me, by my asking), are trying to censor what her daughter reads. Let me clarify the situation a little. This mom teaches To Kill a Mockingbird here at our high school, and when her daughter picked it up at home one day and wanted to read it, the mom said OK, and discussed it with her when she was finished. She's very reasonable and open-minded. She just wants some recommendations to take to the public library this summer - to be able to give her some age-appropriate suggestions so that she isn't exposed to issues that she isn't ready for at age 8. Please don't make this into a censorship issue. It's not. Tish Carpinelli, Media Specialist Lower Cape May Regional H.S.
