I agree!  Reading should be a pleasure regardless of one's abilities.
We had a fifth grader who frequently visited the high school library to borrow 
books her mother suggested, and I wondered what she would read when she would be in 
high school.  During those years, she read books many students would not even touch.
 
If this girl likes mysteries, how about the Stevie Diamond series by Linda Bailey?  
They are entertaining and humorous as well as being good whodunits.  The Keepers 
trilogy by Jackie French Koller is popular among fantasy aficionadoes.
