I would recommend incorporating that space into library services. Yes, if you're weeding and eliminating some books, you might not need as much space -- but aren't you going to buy new books to replace/supplement/update your collection? If you re-adjust your space to allow access to more computers, as well as having a classroom area, you will add to the availability of your library to a variety of users. You can have small groups come in and use different areas of your library -- maybe one in the classroom, another in the reference area going back and forth between print resources and the computers -- another group checking out books to read -- another group browsing magazines. Maybe you can give up a little of your space to be focused on other needs -- an office/workroom area for teachers, for example -- but I would look at the needs of your library and how that space can be used to serve your patrons on a variety of levels.
