There was just one mention of this in the archives, from 2006. It appears that google is making a bigger splash for "Google Custom Search", in which you can specify a body of sites that will be searched. I read about it in a newsletter I receive (in that case, I think the originator might be hoping to make some money), but I could see this being useful in some cases. You can set up an account and specify that it is for education and get the results ad-free. For instance, say you have 10 sites you want to allow students to use on a particular topic. You create the search page, and students are free to search within those sites only, but they are able to search among all of them at once. Has anybody tried this?
