We have 25 copies of all of the Twilight books (total--about 4/5 of each) with a
waiting list for each. I'm considering ordering more, as I think when the movie
comes out there will be more demand.

They're so popular, I haven't had the ability to read them myself yet, as I don't
want to deny my patrons access to them.

By the way--the ONLY parent I had objection from identified herself as a "Concerned
Christian" parent. When I pointed out that the books dealt with the matter of
waiting 'till marriage--she seemed placed placated.

I'm not sure that I saw the earlier post as an attack on a stereotype. Having valid
concern for our vocal Christian patrons seems legitimate. I also respect parents
who pay attention to whether their children's reading reflects their family values.

Let's parse the posting, though. <"Liberal" New England> is fairly obvious sarcasm.
The reader is claiming that in their CONSERVATIVE community there has been no
criticism. This is not a slam on liberals, nor conservatives--merely a lighthearted
approach to the potentially disastrous topic of book challenges. The writer did not
imply that anything was wrong with concern about pre-marital sex. It was a joke.

A joke.

I got it.

I'm sorry that others didn't.

By the way. As a Christian college attending, preacher-kid, church attending,
bible-reading, daily prayer-saying mid-western liberal. I'm glad my kids are
checking out books. And I'm glad those books are portraying responsible marital
relations.
