I can definitely understand the need to teach MLA citation for the standardized test; however, if a research project has a rubric that includes 10% of the total score to be based upon the proper use of the APA citation style, it will be devastating to those students who have completed wonderful research papers to find that the highest grade that they could receive after weeks of work might only be a 90% (and I've seen this just recently!!). I would most definitely teach both styles and explain that there are other styles that might be included in the college experience (Turabian being only one that I thought had died but is still kicking in some universities). ~Shonda -- Shonda Brisco Assistant Professor / Curriculum Materials Librarian Mary L.
