Dear Netters,

I have been approached by the supervising elementary level principal concerning the
number of hours one of our elementary library aides works in comparison to the
number of hours students are actually in the library during book exchange. He is
concerned that she is "only working with children" 12% of the time. He has asked
me to describe what other activities she would be doing in the day. I have been
working on a list which would include the following:
1) shelving books
2) repairing books
3) pulling books for teachers
4) providing input to me concerning that particular library's collection "holes" as
identified by teacher requests
5) processing books
6) tracking check outs (popular, late, lost books)

The job is something like a nurse's in that you have to be there when the situation
arises. I have not approached the aide (or any of the others) since I did not want
to spread panic. What other tasks would you add to this list?

Thank you for your help,
Kate
