A few weeks ago there were several posts about changes underway with Scholastic's Reading Counts program. I figured some of you may not have been back to school yet and may not have seen the discussion. From what I understand, the company is converting to a subscription service whereby each school will pay an annual per-student fee but will have access to all the quizzes in the SRC database, which will be updated automatically. I've also heard from others that there will be a one-time fee to upgrade software to the new system. The per-student subscription is $2 annually. That means $3600 per year for my school of 1800 students. I only spend about $1000 a year on quizzes AND purchase a majority of the ones they create for my level. I think anyone using this program now needs to let the SRC customer service know that this isn't acceptable. NOW...if I am not seeing the benefits or am missing some other info, please let me know. I haven't checked recently, but in the past AR will convert all of your quizzes to AR if you buy their program. This may be the best way to go.
