I have followed the slap in the face thread and can certainly understand the
frustrations. So, I thought to myself, why do I do this? Well, how about:

>the joy of seeing a student really connect with a book, author, or series
>knowing you contribute to the educational process whether the rest of the staff
>realizes it or not
> knowing you are working to create information literate lifelong learners
> groups like this where we can share, vent, celebrate, and pool our knowledge and
>ideas
> the appreciation you get from that teacher for whom you do find just the right
>book, resource, website, or lesson
>the opportunity to advocate for libraries, both school and in general; we are a
>needed resource!

Just a few off the top of my head. Any others out there?
