[LM_NET] TAR: Help find a book demonstrating persuasion

My literacy specialist is in search of a book that is familiar, but we can't think 
of the title.  Can you help us?  The book is about a boy who desperately wants a 
dog.  His father is emphatic and insists he find another pet.  He gets a dinosaur 
who wrecks his house.  The dad then decides a dog is not such a bad idea after 
all.  Sound familiar?
 
Do you have any other books that you use to demonstrate persuasion?  Thanks for you
