Marcia, not all adapters have problems with the HC format. Just as cameras and other devices designed before the HC came out won't work with the HC cards, some older readers won't. MOST newer readers will. For example, I went to my friend Google and searched sdhc card readers. Sandisk, Kingston, and Edge pop up on the first page. Also, many cameras support a direct USB connection and will allow copying photos from the card to the PC. My Sony A200 and my wife's Canon A590IS both will do that. SOME, but not most, of the older units can have upgraded drivers applied from their makers. It is worth a try. Now to take them to a store and get pictures ... if they won't read them, MY METHOD is to keep a small (64M, 256M, 512M usually) older CF or SD to which I copy what I want printed. Having learned the hard way that the carefully constructed directories are ignored by one darn printing machine, I either do that or put them on an old "key drive" I keep for that purpose anyway. > I've gone to whatis.com to learn a little about the SD High Capacity media > card that is causing a colleague so much trouble.
