I gave up my ALA membership several years ago because I didn't feel school librarians were represented fairly. I resent that this latest issue of not being able to properly use the standards in our everyday lesson plans is another way of undermining our roles as professionals in the field. Why have standards that we cannot promote in everyday usage? Sounds like someone got paid big bucks to use educational legalize that satisfied some requirement, but is not effective in the real world of education and librarianship.
