Hi All, I received only 4 responses, but lots of good suggestions within them. Here is my original request, followed by the HIT: 1.Interest in poetry month has been expressed. Below are 3 links I am sharing: http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/teachers_guides/9780375822865.pdf http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/teachers_guides/9780375837005.pdf http://www.randomhouse.com/teachers/calendar/04/ 2. Do you have any of Charles R. Smith Jr.'s poetry books, particularly Diamond Life. He is such a great inspiration for kids and poetry - boys in particular. His website is charlesrsmithjr.com 3. here's a few books if you can get your hands on them: That Sweet Diamond By Paul B. Janeczko, Carole Katchen At the Crack of the Bat By Lillian Morrison, Steve Cieslawski Extra innings By Lee Bennett Hopkins Hummers, Knucklers, and Slow Curves By Don Johnson Line Drives By Brooke Horvath, Tim Wiles, Elinor Nauen and here's some short baseball poems from one of them here: http://books.google.com/books?id=4R8WfIktFW0C&printsec=frontcover&dq=baseball+poems&client=news#PPA7,M1 4. If you don't mind one from the old New York Giants talking about the Chicago Cubs Baseball's Sad Lexicon (also known as Tinkers to Evers to Chance) by Franklin Pierce Adams . Tinkers, Evers, and Chance were infielders for the Cubs who excelled at turning the double play, "Tinkers to Evers to Chance" would be the call by the announcer doing the play by play. These are the saddest of possible words: "Tinker to Evers to Chance." Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds, Tinker and Evers and Chance. Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble, Making a Giant hit into a double -- Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble: "Tinker to Evers to Chance." Thank you to those who responded. I have some choices for him now.
