I find that this is usually due to kids using google images and copying and pasting
the THUMBNAIL rather than continuing on through to the full res. photo.

Make a ppt with thumbnail blown up side to side with the actual image, then ask
kids if they can see which one is better. Then show them the image results where
they can find both.

(Then, of course, we have a conversation about citations. :) Everybody sing;
"Where'd you find this picture? Google!")

My apologies for cross posting--

I have some classes coming in to do some projects using Big Huge Labs
and I'm finding that many .jpg files on the web are of poor resolution
and are pixelating horribly. I want the students to be successful.
When I use the programs I work with a 12 megapixel camera which works
great. But, these kids are doing anti-drug projects and will be
searching on the web for copyright free photos.
Any suggestions?

Subject: ALA Midwinter Meeting

Hello -

I'm looking for some information about registering for the ALA Midwinter
meeting in Boston this year. I have only attended once and the
registration information online is confusing to me.

I am primarily interested in the Youth Media Awards (Monday morning, I
think) and visiting vendors. What sort of registration do I need? What
does a guest registration mean? What is the different between an
exhibit pass and an exhibit supreme pass? Can I get in to the Youth
Media Awards with a day pass?

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.
