We have a request from a teacher who thinks librarians can find just about anything...she is looking for an old book that depicted a little girl following her mother around, using her imagination based on what her mother was doing...laundry, walking on the beach, etc. The teacher did remember a line from the book "...the leaves were scarlet and gold..." One other clue that she gave me were that the illustrations in Rebecca Caudill's book Did you carry the flag today, Charley? were similar to the ones in the book that she is trying to find. That is all that I have to work with and thought that perhaps these clues might sound familiar to someone out there. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and assistance!
