I am weeding the reference section of the library. I have pulled books that are falling apart from age and books that no longer meet our needs research wise and that are out of date. I was just told by a teacher that I am not doing a good service for our school in doing this. I explained why I am pulling these books, but she was not happy with my response. What do you do in this situation? This is the third time this has happened and always with teachers who have been in this school for years and feel that no books should be weeded--ever. I always offer teachers and students the opportunity to take these weeded books, but I am very frustrated today with this situation. Thanks for my venting opportunity.
