I posted an inquiry on yolink and didn't get much feedback. So, I played and researched and this is what I have found: For those of you that don't know what yolink is: It is "downloadable add-on for internet browsers. It searches the hyperlinks on any web page or Google search and displays them as chunks" (from Wikipedia). It basically searches through the search. The other nice thing it does is you can view a book on-line, type in a search phrase and yolink will find the paragraph where the search words are. You have the option of searching for the exact phrase or for the words to appear anywhere in the phrase. It will also search a database search such as Ebscohost. Another neat thing yolink does it will send the paragraphs you select to Google docs and it will create a citation in Easybib. One caveat: it saves a lot of search time BUT you have to know how to search before you can make your searching better. You wouldn't use yolink if you wanted the answer to a simple question like what is the capital of France? It's helpful for deeper searching. You must install yolink on each computer that will be using the free-service. It takes about 6.9 mb and does slightly slow down loading the home page. Yolink does provide assistance if you want to download it to a group of computers. If you don't or can't download it, it is built into a search engine called http://www.sweetsearch.com/ Finally, Kevin Butera (kevin.butera@tigerlogic.com) from yolink was very helpful. He even did an on-line demonstration just for me. He is open to anyone that would like to email him with questions or do a demo.
