Here are some newer YA books targeting guys. They are high school level: Brain Jack by Brian Falkner The Replacement by Brenn Yovanoff You by Charles Benoit The Gardener and The Compound by S.A. Bodeen The Less-Dead by April Lurie Dawn by Kevin Brooks...in fact, anything by Kevin Brooks Rikers High by Paul Volponi...again, anything by Paul Volponi Sleepless and The Unspoken by Thomas Fahy |'ve read and reviewed all of these, and did so with the audience of guy reads in |mind. Of course, this is just the tip of a big iceberg of all those out |there....these are just the newest ones I've read. Like Pamela's blog, these |reviews can be found on my blog, YA Books and More. Hope this helps! :) Naomi Bates Northwest High School Library >>> Pamela Thompson <pthomp@SISD.NET> 08/06/10 10:43 AM >>> Steve doesn't say what grade level except higher than Alex Rider. With that in mind, David Levithan has two new novels out--Love is the Higher Law and Wide Awake. Both are good for high school. I am adding them to my blog shortly. I went to Borders last night to see what titles for young adults looked captivating on the shelves... I came up with about 60 titles to delve into further, but only about 5 of those had any appeal for YA boys. That isn't the only place I'll be looking, of course, but what books for boys are you finding and liking? I could use a soccer title or two for sure, but also action and suspense (above the Alex Rider level, if possible), and coming-of-age stuff. The usual! But new. Thanks!
