Good Morning Friends,

In times when we see school librarian positions cut or at the very least
challenged, the educational leaders/decision makers need to be made aware of the
impact school librarians make on the child as a whole, the family unit and the
community.

Almost one year ago, I invited school librarians from around the country to join me
in supporting a student from my school and her family during the darkest time of
their lives. School librarians from just about every state in this country
responded. One year later, they are still engaged in a group that has evolved into
a charity that supports children and families after the diagnosis of a brain tumor
or brain injury.

This incredible group have become the leaders in creating a charity cookbook that
will serve as the main fund-raiser for this coming holiday season. Our charity
provides grants to these families for uninsured rehab therapies, MRI-co-pays,
emergency transportation or lodging to be near the hospital and sadly assistance
for funeral costs.

I am honored to work in a field with individuals who have such admirable qualities
of integrity, generosity, compassion, love, faith and service to others. Because of
the example set by these school librarians, 50 award-winning authors/illustrators
are joining our efforts by contributing to this cookbook project.

If you would like to participate in submitting a recipe and story for our charity
cookbook, please visit our web site: www.yesgracerocks.com and choose the "cookbook
project" link.

I am honored to proclaim that I am a school librarian!
