Thank you to everyone for responding. They are all great titles! Most of the
books listed were mentioned more than once. If I get any more I’ll post
those too.

Original post:

Turn Off Your TV Week is April 19-25 (and September 19-25), 2010.

I am looking mainly for picture books, but chapter books too (all levels)
that deal with turning off the TV and doing other activities such as
reading.

So far I have found:

“Berenstain Bears and Too Much TV”

“Turn it off!” By David Marx

“Turn Off the TV” by Rachel Vail

“Great TV Turn Off” by Beverley Lewis (chapter book)

Responses:

Picture Books

Mouse TV by Matt Novak - It's about a mouse family that loves TV but can
never agree on what to watch. When their TV breaks one night, they find out
how much fun they can have without television.

Library Lil by Suzanne Williams - She gets the townspeople to turn off their
TVs and read.

No More Television by Philippe Dupasquier

Fix it by David McPhail

When Charlie McButton Lost Power by Suzanne Collins - will be absolutely
perfect, and it's funny, too!

Penny Lee and her TV by G. McCoy

Aunt Chip and the Great Triple Creek Dam Affair by Patricia Polacco - Very
lighthearted approach to what would happen if everyone watched TV all the
time.

The Wretched Stone by Chris Van Allsburg

Kamishibai Man by Allen Say

Nothing to Do by Douglas Wood

Chapter Books

The TV Kid by Betsy Byers - effects of living too much in a TV world

The Library Card by Jerry Spinelli - is a collection of short stories. The
story entitled "Brenda" deals with a TV turn off.

Not a book, but you might be interested in this BBC TV series, "*Why Don't
You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring
Instead?"* http://www.screenonline.org.uk/tv/id/549322/.

Marc Brown did an Arthur story called Arthur's TV Free Week (I didn’t find
it in book form)
