Michael and the Group,

ONe thing we are doing district wide is having a bookmark contest ...
nothing really original except that we've never done that before. There
will be one winner on each campus (5) and each librarian will take care
of her (not "his" in our district) reward ... a book or a magazine
subscription.

All 5 winning entries will be copied in multiples to be distributed school
wide at the beginning of the 94-95 school year in all school libraries.

Another thing that we in HS are doing is arranging to have a visit to our
library by our pre-k students. The HS child development class will read
stories to groups (our library is large so we will be able to divide the
floor space among smaller groups) from the "Big Books" that I plan to
purchase for our library.

We have an *amazing* number of young mothers (and soon-to-be's) on our
campus, so I've decided that the MOTHERS need to be exposed to what is
available for their children. While the investment won't be large,
having 6 or so select "Big Books" available for various projects should
 enhance our collection.

The Town Hall Education 2000 via satellite is nicely timed. It's to be
on the 19th, so we will have an opportunity to say that it is via the
auspices of the Library Media Center since *I* am the one to turn the
thing on!
