Re: CIP data--Please READ this!

The plan is to stop creating summaries for works of non-fiction.  This
doesn't apply just to CIP, though.  I have read that LC is planning to
discontinue it entirely in order to reduce their backlog more quickly.
Could be worse, I guess.

BTW, in my 15 years in tech services I have never considered that the
number of typos in LC's records warranted typing my own cataloging from
scratch -- horrors!  Where are these dysfunctional MARC records coming
from anyway?
