Help!! Currently, all of our technology funds are distributed to individual schools on a per capita basis. How the funds are used on each campus is decided by the site-based committee. This means that a district-wide library technology plan is subject to the decisions of each of the 50+ site-based teams in our district. This has lead to inequities. Some libraries have on-line catalogs and some don't. It's possible for a student to have access to an on-line catalog at one school and if he moves to a school a few miles away, he has to use the traditional card catalog. An elementary library may have an online catalog, but the junior high it feeds may not have one. Some libraries have CD-ROMs and some don't. How are these issues handled in your districts? Do you have a district-wide plan which is implemented through a district library services department, or is each library on its own as far as technology is concerned? Your comments will be very helpful to me and the other librarians in my district. Thanks for the info! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Jan Thomas jthomas@tenet.edu Bowie High School Phone: 817-472-4443 2101 Highbank Drive Fax: 817-468-7767 Arlington, Texas 76018 "I can't live without books"...or computers! --Thomas Jefferson <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
