   The problem is not so much excessive postings by the various grade
levels, but the amount of accidental postings of personal or irrelevant
messages which should not have been posted in the first place.

   We have discussed the notion of breaking into level-specific lists, and
the idea has been rejected. I hope that our members will try to monitor
themselves more carefully, as our group increases in size, to try an only
post messages that * really * ought to be read by the vast majority of our
members.

In the meantime, there is always the digest option:

      * * *  STARTING AND STOPPING THE LM_NET DIGEST FEATURE  * * *

  Send mail to LISTSERV@SUVM.SYR.EDU (Internet users) or,
               LISTSERV@SUVM.BITNET  (Bitnet only)

with one of the following commands in the body of the mail--
 *not* in the Subject: line.

To turn the digest ON:
  SET LM_NET DIGEST

To turn the digest OFF:
  SET LM_NET MAIL

Please remember to send it to one of the addresses above, not to the group.

Best wishes,
