CD Programs for Middle Schoolers

Please help! A K-8 media specialist in my system needs to know:

1. What is the best CD network encycopedia for middle school - for use on
   machines that do not have windows?

2. What are the best CD-ROM programs for middle school students in science,
   math, social studies and language arts?
