In Texas, state law does not allow our professional organizations to
operate as unions. While a couple of them are affialiated with national
unions, they CANNOT collectively bargain with school districts. Their
major impact comes from their work with the state legislature and the
Texas Education Agency.

Although sometimes the professional organizations can help work out
individual/group problems with district administrators.
