I am always preaching about how people who do CIP are just folks like all of us and can really, truly make mistakes. An example that I just came across. I was cataloging the new ABC-CLIO "Industrial Revolution" today (a good reference, by the way, which I just reviewed for Book Report) and checked the CIP. They had it under the number for Sea Warfare! Lesson to be learned: Always check the CIP -- it's a good starting place -- but then open up your Dewey and check to see if you agree with the number!
