Colleagues, I am searching for historic data on wages and prices. This is for a project that will compare American wages over the past 100 years (or so) and the cost of standard goods (a loaf of bread, a pair of shoes, a movie ticket, a pound of chicken, new home, new car, newspaper, etc.) The students will use this data to try and determine if people are "better off" (economically) *now* than they were 20 years ago, 40 years ago, and so on. I am in hopes of being able to find wages for unskilled hourly, clerical hourly, tradesman, and beginning professional (like a teacher). Hopefully, there will be some sort of clear trend between the different levels of wage earners, too. Please feel free to cross-post this request to other groups that may assist. I will post a compliation of the sites and/or sources after I receive responses. I thank you in advance for your assistance. Susan T.
