ELEM:New to elem needs lesson plan info

Although this is my third year as a Media Specialist it is my first year in
Elem. (3-5).  I started the year doing short lessons on location of a
specific section, what a call number meant(each line) and some other basci
things.  From the feedback I got on my lesson plans I figured I needed to
do more using the sources for research info.  I planned what sounded like
great research units involving, books, reference of various types and the
internet.  CD-ROM's were included, but could not be used because some
problems have to be fixed from the DO.  Talking to the principal she
mentioned that teachers were unhappy and recommended I talk to them.  I
talked to the one who appears to be most disgruntled and she gave me some
good ideas although it was similar to what I was doing at the beginning of
the year.  I need ideas or a source to buy a book with ideas on lessons of
about 20 minutes that include teaching a activities.  I have them for 40
minutes, but the teachers like them to have time to browse (me too!).  I
enjoy this age and have learned some about what works and what doesn't, but
was not provided with a nice textbook for each thing like the classroom
teachers and teaching 29 classes a week I feel like I am flying by the seat
of my pants.

Thank you for any help and suggestions.  I want to do a good job and need
ideas badly.
