Re: Pinching/St. Patrick's Day

You mean there are people who do NOT know about this?  It was just part of
the St. Patrick's day lore where I grew up (Southern California), and I have
never run into anyone who was not familiar with the tradition of pinching
those not wearing green on that day.  It was standard Kid Stuff, like cat's
cradles, paper-scissors-rock, hopscotch, and the finer points of blowing
bubbles with Double Bubble gum.  (Though St. Patrick's day pinching pretty
much goes out of style as one is reaches a couple of decades past the school
days ... )  It always seemed to be almost a law!  If nothing else, folks
seem to wear a green ribbon or something of that sort -- even in my current
workplace.  (One of my esteemed colleagues, though, notes that nowadays a
finely honed sense of caution in interpersonal relations may militate
against pinching for ANY reason ...)
