Dear LM_NET Colleagues,

Following my posting earlier this week regarding EL-Announce, I received a
question about the commercial nature of my posting. I thought I would
share my reply with the whole group, so the everyone would get a sense of
what we are trying to do with EL-Announce as a way of supporting some of
our activities and services. As you may suspect, it takes a lot of time to
effectively manage LM_NET, and it is currently all done by volunteers. We
have no subsidies or sponsors for the daily maintenance of the group.

Sorry for the situation, but we occasionally make an exception when we
receive suppport of that kind. We are trying to work out a way to offer a
tiny bit of support to those who help with the large number of chores
related to maintaining and managing LM_NET, and this is the least
obtrusive. Since we own the list, we figured that an occasional show of
support for our supporters would be OK.

Thank you for your concern and interest in LM_NET! We are glad to have you
with us.
