Hi ... in references to "the Internet" (the global agglomeration of connected networks functioning under TCP/IP), it is capitalized. In references to a generic network of networks, it is not. That is, the Internet is a proper noun, the name of a specific (albeit vast and somewhat amorphous) thing. However, the same word without the capital letter refers to any connected group of networks. Please note, there are such things as "intranets" (note the spelling carefully!), networks serving a specific organization (a network intra [within] the organization is an intranet). There is only one Internet (capitalized), but many internets. There are also countless intranets. I hope this helps. I can guarantee you it is the correct answer. Ken -- Kenneth W.
