Hi, Jackie
This is always so frustrating. Even though we have a strong program, I'm
always sad when opportunities are missed or teachers don't realize that
palnning will make it better for the students. How long have you been in
your present position? It always takes a while to build up the
collaboration situation. Many taechers and I plan and do things
together, with others it;'s just touching base. I think it's critical to
know who you can approach and who you can't. Start small, work with the
living. Provide good service so they see you mean well and do good work.
Offer to do something they might need help with. For example, if the
teacher isn't comfortable with tehcnology bend over backwards to help them
and set a good example. Keep the schedule book at your desk so they have
to stop by your desk to sign up. Use planning forms. Stress that you
want the kids to be successful.
Good luck!!
