I understand what Alice was trying to say.  She did not mean to offend.

I think there is a reason why so many new librarians are asking the same
questions over and over again.  It is because library school is not
practical.  Despite the fact that I went to an ALA accredited school, in the
Top 10 of the country, I did not learn how to get books back at the end of
the year, how to run book fairs, how to run freshmen orientation.  I have an
excellent theoretical base-- Drexel University did a great job at that.  But,
it fell short in the area of teaching me what I really needed to know to get
through my day to day things.  This is why we see the same questions over and
over again-- because we get out of school with all that education only to
realize we know so little about what we need to know to do our jobs.
