I work at an elementary school with grades 3-5. Our middle school has grades 6-8. We overlap on some titles because we both have high and low readers. I don't think I'd just send the middle school everything they want. You have the right to decide what books your kids need, taking input from others, of course. Maybe you and the other librarian can "agree to disagree" and split the contested books and/or money to replace books.
