Library tech pay

Hi All,
Currently, my assistants in my two libraries are paid at the same rate as
other educational assistants, some of whom work one-on-one with a special
education student, etc.  There is a "technical educational assistant"
category which is paid at a higher rate.  The computer lab assistant is paid
at that rate.  My assistants and I feel that library assistants should be in
the technical category, since they work with the automated system, handle
the clerical work and all the things you and I know they do.  They handle
the library alone when I am at the other building as well.
We need lots of great words to use to convince both their union and the
administration that this a good idea. TIA.
