Make sure the principal brings the same info to the inservice. And after, do a debriefing. Might need admin support for those that choose not to bring/participate. And principal should set the stage on why it is important to use PP and maybe some examples of effective use. On a mechanical level, teachers could be asked to bring a Word outline of a lessonplan. Open in PP and have content all done. Then play with the presentation aspects. In 45 minutes, they could actually have a piece done. Or build a PP showing samples of effective use (tutorials, visual aids to enhance or lead to discussion, note-taking skills) and have a follow-up session on how to work with it for the classroom. My belief is that a teacher that can make it through 4+ years of college should be able to figure out the program, but might need help in the why and when to us it areas. I only have 45 minutes to teach them the program! Obviously, that isn't anywhere near enough time so I'll just do the bare minimum for them. I'm asking each person to bring a topic with a title and info to make 3 slides (4 including the title slide). What do you think are the most important components of Power Point for teachers to learn so they can use this in the classroom? For example, I'm not sure if I should go into importing pictures and sound although that's something I'm sure they'd like to know how to do. I doubt I'll have time to get into animation either. It seems to me that 45 minutes will barely be enough time to show them how to select a background, pick transitions, type their info, and see their slide show! If anyone has done a micro training like this or if you just have some advice on the MUSTS for me, I'd really appreciate it!
