Suzanne, On the topic of 'chapter books' you hit one of my pet peeves. I think it's a silly designation and confusing to students when it is used as a synonym for easy fiction books. I constantly explained to my students that fiction, non-fiction, biography, and story collection books all have chapters. Teachers need to be educated about the types of books available if they don't already know and teach their students to use the correct identifiers. I do orientations and resource tours with all my classes and do my part to educate students that chapter books is not a genre. (I feel so much better getting that off my chest!) Cheers!
