I moved to being a Library Media Specialist from a Music Specialist. Strangely enough, most teachers assume I have been a "classroom" teacher - I suppose because I handle most subjects well. I originally got my School Media Certification because I was afraid the music program would be closed, and then I thought I could be the music teacher and librarian in one school (oops, schools just don't think that way!) I think many classroom teachers perceive that being a librarian is easier to deal with than the classroom. I'm sure they soon find out differently.
