Humor: reference question

Hi All,
        Spent quite a bit of time today trying to help a 7th grade girl find
information about Charles Main (Mayne, Mein????) - she, of course, did not
know how to spell the "last name".  She didn't know who he was, what he
did, or why the teacher wanted her to find information about him.  After
asking various questions I finally found out it was her HISTORY teacher -
aha, a clue...    Turns out she was looking for Charlemagne!
