TARGET: Elementary book

Our 5th grade teachers are required to teach Core Democratic Values, but are
pretty much on their own coming up with lessons.  A teacher came to me today
asking for books that were not BORING that dealt with 1) patriotism, 2)
equality and 3) the common good.  The only things I could think of were Jean
Fritz's And Then What Happened, Paul Revere? for patriotism; The Green Truck
Garden Giveaway for common good, and Tar Beach for equality, but those are
stretches.  I'm pretty much stumped.  She wants a picture book and repeated
that it can't be boring.  Can this group help me help her?
