At our elementary school each student must bring a "pass" of some kind when walking to the Media Center independently (as opposed to with a whole class). I have to supply these passes to the teachers -- five per class. In the past I've used some sort of tag on a cord that the kids can wear around their necks. This works fine for the youngest kids -- but the older ones have taken to doing other things with the passes -- the worst of which is swinging the tags around by the string (with surprising centrifugal force, I might add!) and, purposely or "accidentally", either letting go to see how far the thing will fly across the room or hitting another student with it. Yes, I can take the pass away and send the student back to his/her room -- but often I'm busy with a class, and many times the student just comes back before long and repeat the same scene. (Teachers tell me they are too busy to keep track of who has been sent back -- so the kid just grabs another pass and returns..) Does anyone have some sort of library pass that works? I'd love a suggestion! TIA.
